For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. —‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭9:6‬ ‭NKJV‬

When our troubles and suffering weigh us down, we often seek guidance from someone we can trust. However, worldly things and relationships can only provide temporary relief, and they can never truly satisfy us.

God promised us in the book of Isaiah, “There will be no more gloom for those who were in distress.” worldly things and relationships may fill your longings for a very short period, but they will never satisfy your heart and soul.

Then, they will look toward the earth and see only distress and darkness and fearful gloom. —‭Isaiah‬ ‭8:22‬ ‭NIV‬

In the middle of despair, you would always want a direction.

Earthly gifts, when not handled right, becomes idol and priority in life over God. It will bring difficulty in the end, and our eyes will only see distress.

Sin makes us walk in deep darkness. The only way to be released from sinfulness is by walking in the light: The Wonderful Counselor, Jesus.

The Lord promised in Isaiah 9:2, “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness, a light has dawned.” When we come and confide our deepest secrets and sorrows to Jesus, we get guidance. The burden will be light, and the pathway will be clear. We are walking away from the tunnel of darkness.

In the presence of the Holy Spirit, you will have absolute joy and clarity! New doors will open for you. Nothing compares the joy the Lord will give you. The inner joy this world couldn’t provide you. “You have enlarged the nation and increased their joy; they rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest, as warriors rejoice when dividing the plunder.” –Isaiah 9:3

For as in the day of Midian’s defeat, you have shattered the yoke that burdens them, the bar across their shoulders, the rod of their oppressor. —‭Isaiah‬ ‭9:4‬b ‭NIV‬

The Wonderful Counselor will break the chains of anxiety, depression, trauma, and self-pity. In His words comes healing and life. The works of His hands bring transformation and new beginnings. That’s what Jesus does.

You are under the care of the Almighty God. The Everlasting Father who loves you and gives you everything without finding fault. The Prince of heavenly Peace that showers down the earth; His Spirit hovering over the world.

Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. —‭Isaiah‬ ‭9:7a‬ ‭NIV‬

If we allow the Lord to have authority over our lives, we will encounter a peace in our hearts that is beyond measure and can only be shaped by Jesus. It is never-ending.

In this world, there is no justice. But the Wonderful Counselor, Jesus, will reign over the nation. He will establish justice and righteousness. It will be strengthened by His love forever.

He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears; but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. —‭Isaiah‬ ‭11:3b‭-‬4‬a ‭NIV‬

God sees the inner depth of our hearts. His perspective and thoughts are different from humankind’s. He judges with virtue and goodness. Righteousness is attached to His name. The last word and decision, He has the final say.

God will fulfill what He promised. The Wonderful Counselor, Jesus, will govern the nation for all eternity, bringing wisdom and guidance to His people from time on and forever.
