FALLING LEAVES ARE THE CROWN OF BEAUTY FOR ASHES

Written by Abby Caymol | Oct 9, 2023

Fall season is finally here again!

The majority of us love the fall season. I would wait and prepare for the whole year for the end of September by bringing out my cozy sweaters (my favorite are the knitted ones!), sherpa jackets, beanies, and scarves.

Of course, the fall season kit would not be complete without the PSL! Pumpkin spice latte is a way to go! Hot cocoa, coffee, and tea are a must-have during this time. But aside from all these exciting treats that the fall season gives, one significant matter is the falling leaves.

The fall season would never be a fall when there are no falling leaves and withered trees.

Frequently, we view this as a sign of loneliness. Falling leaves and dried leaves on the floor sometimes give us nostalgia. We are longing for a bountiful spring and summer. But the anticipation of hope amazes me about the fall season. Faith that everything will fall back on the right track.

‭Hebrews‬ ‭11:1‬ ‭NIV‬, Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

Falling leaves may give you downside signs such as failure, hopelessness, anxiety, etc. However, viewing this from a different perspective will provide you with the beauty of waiting for revival.

Let us knit it all together to see why God created the fall season beautiful and exciting!

COLOR CHANGING LEAVES

When trees along the street change from green to yellow, red, or orange, we know that autumn is coming. God gave us the right senses to distinguish situations.

The transformation the Lord will provide you with is beautiful, just like the metamorphosis of a butterfly. Progress from small beginnings to the remarkable present times. Remember that every transformation requires spiritual exercise, perseverance, and discipline.

Autumn leaves don’t just change their color like that; it takes time to process, as well in our spiritual life.

WINDY AND COLD SEASON

As the beautiful fall leaves start to change their color, the autumn weather approaches as well, and it is natural.

As we transform from old selves to new identities God-given, challenges in life will punch us, which is also natural. That is how life is, and it is not always sunshine and rainbows all the time, but God promised that in every way, He will be with us (Deuteronomy 31:8).

So, don’t be afraid of sudden changes in your life after you receive Jesus.

The One who changes you beautifully is the same One who will give you protection and prepare you for His most beautiful plans.

FALLING LEAVES

The falling leaves characterize our life. Falling doesn’t mean it is the end but a sign of a new beginning.

All people fall short of God’s glory, but Jesus gives a fresh start.

Fall is not a failure but a sign of progress that there is hope to get back up again, not in your way but in God’s way. Be patient in the fall season of your life.

WITHERED TREE

Similar to falling leaves, a tree only left with crunchy branches remains unchanged. The situation that you think is hopeless, God can always turn it the other way around.

A withered tree signifies waiting for a new season to come. You will not only anticipate but also expect it to happen because God already made good plans for it.

A withered tree expects to grow leaves in the spring season. It may not come immediately, but it will happen at God’s right time. Train our minds to think about God’s plan and promises to us, for He who promises is always faithful (Hebrews 10:23b).

With God, all your expectations aren’t put to waste.

DRIED LEAVES ON THE GROUND

When we see dried leaves on the ground, we think it is dried and useless, but when you view them differently, you will see them as beautiful as they were on the tree. The ground filled with leaves of different kinds of autumn colors is picturesque!

The fall season won’t be called the way it is if no dried autumn leaves are on the ground.

Let it be an encouragement to see yourself how Jesus sees you.

Stop looking at yourself with judgment, but be of sound mind to value yourself no matter how many times you fall. There is no hopeless case with the Lord. He will not leave you dried and empty, but He will transform you according to His perfect will.

Photo, not mine.

Meditate Josuha 23:14, “Now I am about to go to the way of all the earth. You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all good promises the Lord your God gave you has failed. Every promises has fulfilled; not one has failed.”

Our life is not dependable on how many times we fall, but it is anchored with Jesus, who always picks us up no matter what situation we are in. From death to life, His steadfast love keeps our hearts moving. He is always constant in keeping His promises.

You are much loved and worthy.

Happy Fall Season! 🙂🍂🍁🧡

To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified. –Isaiah 61:3 KJV

God can make everything alive and beautiful once again. There is beauty for ashes.
