“You were running a good race, who cut in on you and kept you from obeying the truth. That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you.” –Galatians 5:7-8

Being with Jesus gives us a special gift of salvation. When we receive God’s salvation, Jesus will unlock many skills and call for us to start a good race.  When you start walking with Jesus, you will experience a lot of ups and downs. Here are some tips to remind you and help in your journey spiritually with Jesus so you can have a good race:

1.  YOU ARE SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF CHRIST 

“So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.”

Galatians 3:26‭-‬27 NIV

You are called by name. The gift, purpose, and the calling you have is irrevocable. (Romans 11:29) Because God is holy, we are also called to be holy.

2. YOU ARE A VESSEL OF THE GOSPEL

“But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere.”

2 Corinthians 2:14 NIV

Always think that the moment you received Jesus, you will become a channel of God’s message in so many areas in ministry such as in worship, helping in the Church, speaking, discipleship and a lot more. God will unlock gifts for you. Remember 2 Corinthians 4:7, “But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.” We can’t boast anything about God’s calling and gifts.

3. YOU ARE GOD’S NEW CREATION 

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation”

2 Corinthians 5:17‭-‬18 NIV

Always remember how God pulls you away from your past slavery (sin you couldn’t let go); once Jesus gave you a new identity, there’s no reason for you to come back to your old self. 

4. JOY IN SERVING GOD

“Fill my heart with joy.”

Psalms 4:7a NIV

Serving God is the joy in the heart! We serve the Lord not only because of obedience but because we love Him. Our hearts should be suitable for the Lord. We can be obedient to God but with a wrongful heart. God wants your heart’s honesty. Pray and ask God to examine your heart. There is so much joy in ministry for Jesus!

5. COMPLETION UNTIL THE DAY OF JESUS

“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 1:6 NIV

Those who desire Jesus desires His actions and teachings too. In a good race, you are walking with Jesus without rushing. When you spend time with God by reading His word and praying, you will experience more of Him and less of you (human desires). You will be set apart from this world (Deuteronomy 14:2).  Your heart will only long for Jesus, nothing more; until the blessed hope (rapture), we are equipped and established in God’s word. Share the gospel. Let your family, friends, and others complete their good race with you for Jesus.

You are set apart, sons & daughters of God.

You are His most treasured possession.

You are the Lord’s salt and light.
